One park guest even went as far as to say: “Queuing for a ride has never been this thrilling!” “When critics are this excited, you know you’ve done something well” adds P&P owner and art director Philipp van Stratum says. “We always try to get the most out of an experience. Everything has to be right, even the smallest details.” All scenery, effects and theming were developed, engineered and realised at the company’s workshop in Asten near Eindhoven. HELIX IS HERE!

Described modestly by the park as, “one of the coolest rollercoasters in the world,” Helix is now open at Liseberg, Gothenburg, Sweden. Built into the hillside, intertwined with the park’s much-loved coaster Lisebergbanan, the Mack Rides creation features a unique combination of launches, floating airtime and maximum g-forces. Riders experience seven inversions and a maximum difference in altitude of 52 metres. The hotly- anticipated coaster opened on 26 April and is expected to become the park’s new signature attraction.

Helix is both longer and faster than all other attractions at Liseberg, running for almost a mile (1.4 km) and lasting for more than two minutes. During the ride, passengers are guaranteed two launches, propelling the train up to 100km/h and delivering forces of 4.3G. The total investment in the new attraction is SEK200 million (€22m.

“Helix runs elegantly like a snake over the mountain and the high treetops,” adds Liseberg CEO Andreas Andersen.
