Doris was a longtime officer of the Boca Raton chapter of National League of American Pen Women and a board member of the local Planned Parenthood. N.Y., died December 21. An economics major, she was a former field representa- tive for RDJ Corporation in Armonk. Past president of the Scarsdale Women’s Republican Club, she served the state Republican Party as a district leader. She was an avid tennis player. She is survived by a daughter, two sons, eight grandchil- dren, and nine great-grandchildren. Her husband, Donald, predeceased her. Helen Mabie Firkins ’50 of Saddle River, N.J., died December 15. An art major, she was a sales associate with Neiman Marcus and longtime election inspector for the town of Greenburgh. Helen also offered her time and talent to the Greenburgh Nature Center, the New York Botanical Garden, and the Children’s Village of Dobbs Ferry. She served the College as class president, class agent, reunion volunteer, and Wide Horizons Campaign volunteer. She is survived by her husband Bruce, two sons, four grand- children, and one great-grandson. Dolores Cetrule Kenyon ’52 of West- wood, Mass., died January 21 of Alzheimer’s. A nursing major, she earned a master’s in pediatric nursing from Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She was a pediatric nurse practitioner at the Valerie Children’s Cancer Center at Overlook Hospital in Summit, N.J. She served the College as a class agent volun- teer. She is survived by husband Edward, four sons, and several grandchildren. Mary Gillam Bereday ’52 of Tampa, Fla., died December 25. An art education major, she earned a doctorate from Teachers College Columbia University. She was a public school art teacher in Massachusetts and later directed the art studio at the Weekday School at Riverside Church in NYC. She is survived by a son, a daughter, and six grandchildren. Her husband, George, predeceased her. Nancy Angell DuBois ’53 of Randolph, Vt., died November 25. An English major, she was a vocational deacon at St. John’s Church in Randolph for many years. She also served as a chaplain at Gifford Med- ical Center. She is survived by a daughter and two sons, three grandchildren, and a


great-granddaughter. Her husband, Richard, predeceased her. Barbara Scheinler Shepherd ’53 of Lawrenceville, Ga., died December 3. She was a history major. She is survived by two sons, and eight grandchildren; her husband, W. Scott, predeceased her. Jacqueline Ward Trebour ’55 of Mount Arlington, N.J., died February 6, 2013. A business major, she worked as a travel agent. She volunteered for the Morris County Board of Elections and the Women’s Association of Morristown Hospital. She is survived by husband Jack, a son and three daughters, eight grand- children, and five great-grandchildren. Nancy Canby Fowler ’58 of Marlbor- ough, Mass., died November 7, 2013. A business major, she was a software writer at Digital Equipment Corporation and later wrote for the MetroWest Daily News. She especially enjoyed gardening and painting. A biology major, she raised a family before pursuing a career in the insurance industry as a chartered property casualty underwriter. She enjoyed biking and volunteering for com- munity nonprofits. She was associate counsel at the New York State Mortgage and Loan Administration. Sophia was a board member of the New York Marble Cemetery and active in the Brooklyn Historic District Council and the Woman Flyfisher’s Club. She is survived by companion Bruno LaVerdiere and a son. Katherine Cross ’77 of Jacksonville, Fla., died April 27, 2012. A University Without Walls graduate, she majored in social work and went on to earn a master’s in human services administration from John Carroll University. She was an academic counselor at Florida Junior College at Jacksonville. She is survived by husband Willis. Beverly Ralston Gloker ’79 of Broad- albin, N.Y., died September 17, 2010. A University Without Walls graduate, she earned her bachelor’s in elementary edu- cation while raising seven children as a widow. Beverly worked as a teacher’s assis- tant for the Ballston Spa School District. She was a longtime member of the Horse Women’s Club at Saratoga Race Course. Perrysburg, Ohio, died February 2 of pan- creatic cancer. A business major, she was a longtime supporter of the Maumee Valley Country Day School, served on its board for over a decade and, together with hus- band Dean, led fundraising to build its new upper school. The school’s Kasperzak Center was dedicated in their honor. Becky was recognized with an Alumni Service Award in 2001. She hosted Toledo’s annual Taste of the Nation event
