T e LWF has fi nished drilling
two boreholes for an emergency water supply. Now pit latrines are being constructed. And a mass sani- tation eff ort has been launched in response to growing concerns over diseases accelerated by the rainy season. Gebreyes said they are running
out of funds for life-saving assis- tance. An ecumenical appeal begun in February through ACT Alliance has only received 10 percent of the expected funding. T e U.N. has also launched an interagency appeal. “Unless suffi cient funding is
available, the life and health of refu- gees will be severely compromised,” Gebreyes warned. When will they be able to go
of malnutrition among the children waiting to be relocated to [other] camps,” she said, calling it “a sign of [a] rapidly deteriorating humanitar- ian situation within and beyond the borders of South Sudan.”
