MACHINE SAFETY SUPPLEMENT PRODUCTS INTRODUCING THE NEW MLC SAFETY LIGHT CURTAIN The devices of the MLC 530 Extended version offer the option of
selecting between five different operating modes. These high end sensors meet the demands of the most complex applications. If, for example, controllable blanking functions, reduced resolution or timing controlled muting functions are required, this sensor can be set to fulfill these demands, without the use of a PC or software. The user simply selects the operating mode using the connection system,
i.e. the pin assignment on the receiver. Therefore, there is no requirement for Laptops or Dip Switches for configuration. If a device is being replaced, the sensor can have the functionality of the previous one by simply plugging the new one in. The MLC is also completely compatible with the previous SOLID Light Curtain series. The MLC sensor can easily replace the SOLID Safety Light Curtain when it comes to connection, including pin assignment as well as functionality.

function selection approach has been maintained for the new MLC 300 and MLC 500 Safety Light Curtains as well. In doing so, Leuze electronic has met the central requirement of many
users, namely being able to use safety light curtains universally and for as many special applications at one time as possible. The MLC 300 series contains Type 2 devices (PL c, SIL 1), while the MLC 500 series contains Type 4 devices (PL e, SIL 3). The basic standard sensors for the most common safeguarding tasks
are Basic version devices (MLC 310, MLC 510). However, even these ‘simple’ devices feature automatic start/restart and reversible transmission channels. More options are offered by the MLC 320 and MLC 520 including
integrated start/restart interlock, contactor monitoring and seven segment display. Due to selectable transmission channels and, if necessary, range reduction, this prevents interference between adjacent sensor pairs.
