Twyford launches definitive new commercial product ‘bible’ Altro has unveiled its new Altro
Twyford Bathrooms has published its first Commercial Product Guide, the definitive printed reference bible for the company’s entire range of bathroom, sanitaryware and brassware products available to the commercial sector.
In response to customer feedback for an easy-to-use, comprehensive and handy desk/on-the-move reference, the spiral-bound A5 Guide enables specifiers, contractors and developers to quickly reference any aspect of the extensive Twyford range.
Brimming with designed-in functionality, the colour-coded sections cover WCs, washbasins, brassware, stainless steel, Doc.M packs, baths & showering, urinals,
and fireclay. Each product-per-page comprises bulleted product descriptions, key benefits and features, product codes, drawings and dimensions. Sector icons clearly show the areas of use each product is suitable for including general commercial, healthcare, education, hotels, special needs, and residential. Plus nine logos give easy visual reference to water/energy saving schemes and accreditations, as well as Twyford innovations such as Rimfree® (toilets with no rim for germs to hide), Flushwise® (water-saving 4/2.6 litre dual-flush cisterns), and the unique Totalinstall® quick and simple installation system – to name just three.

FlexiflowTM resin flooring, a product that offers all the quality and robustness of an Altro resin, with one key difference – flexibility. The new product boasts good indentation recovery and high impact resistance, which is ideal for protecting a wide range of environments. It can be used to overlay day joints and it takes up building movement so it can be applied over existing expansion joints, within certain tolerances. Altro Flexiflow comes in three product options, giving customers, designers and specifiers a broad choice of solutions within a wide spectrum of environments. The standard version of Altro Flexiflow combines flexibility and toughness and is available in 2mm thickness. It is ideal for medium-duty industrial premises with rolling loads.. The Altro Flexiflow comfort version also offers robustness and flexibility, but with added comfort underfoot. Available in 2mm thickness, this product is great to walk and stand on and is perfect where people are on their feet all day.

Accessible play for state-of-the-art school A
n inclusive play area designed by Sutcliffe Play is being enjoyed by children at a new purpose built Special Education Needs school in Knowsley.
Bluebell Park is a state-of-the-art school providing primary, secondary and post-16 facilities for 185 students with special educational needs. The new school combines two former schools, Springfield School and The Elms, and provides advanced facilities including hydrotherapy pools and sensory gardens. Sutcliffe Play was tasked with providing an exciting, accessible playground in which children of all abilities could play together.
The play area created features elements including wheelchair swings and a wide mound tunnel. A focal point is the exciting Playzone unit which is designed for wheelchair access all the way round and features an inclusive slide and an inclined drag ramp. The design also includes a trampoline and a wheelchair roundabout with rainbow flooring to add colour to the environment. “We wanted to give the youngsters of Bluebell Park an opportunity for play that’s not available to them anywhere else,” says Sue Cowley, Business Manager for Bluebell Park. “This requirement has been met without a doubt.

“One of my favourite pieces of equipment in the play area is the wheelchair roundabout. It epitomises inclusive play, enabling children of all abilities to access the same equipment. Children who in the past had to stand aside and watch their more able-bodied friends on the roundabout can now play right alongside them.
“The reaction from children has been unbelievable. One of the first children to play on the equipment came to me afterwards and said: ‘Sue, that’s just what I wanted’. “You can see the joy on their faces as they play; it’s a real pleasure to see.”
