ACIMIT members make Italy the fourth largest exporting country for textile machinery, preceded by Germany, China and Japan. The Mediterranean country enjoys an 11% market share of all exports, according to figures supplied by the asso- ciation. The United States is Italy’s fifth largest export market for textile machinery.


Italian textile machinery makers exported $147 million worth of their products in 2012 to NAFTA countries, 13% more than the previous year, and more than twice the average growth rate for exports to NAFTA countries from 2008-2012, which was 5.9%. Overall, Italy’s machine manufacturing export market


represents 83% of the $3.3 billion Italian textile machinery sector, which is made up of 300 companies that employ 11,400 workers.
