1. Ohio Machine Tom Schreiber, M, Princeton Can the reigning midfielder of the year guide the Tigers to the Ivy League crown?


2. Rochester Rattlers Jordan Wolf, A, Duke Can Wolf throw himself ahead of Lyle Thompson in Tewaaraton race?


3. New York Lizards Joe Fletcher, D, Loyola Mr. Fundamental is the only collegian left vying for a U.S. spot at this summer’s FIL World Championship.


4. New York Lizards Luke Duprey, LSM/D, Duke Duprey is a perfect fit for the Lizards, who sought a physical, takeaway presence on defense.


5. Florida Launch


Kieran McArdle, A, St. John’s The scoring machine was the first- ever pick of the first Florida franchise.


6. Denver Outlaws


Jeremy Noble, M, Denver Noble struggled through an injury- plagued junior season. Being healthy will help the Pioneers and the Outlaws.


7. Charlotte Hounds Michael Ehrhardt, D, Maryland Ehrhardt leads an experienced Terps defense compensating for an inexperienced offense.


8. Boston Cannons Scott McWilliams, D, Virginia McWilliams ends


his college career playing with his MLL coach’s son, Cavs midfielder Ryan Tucker.

 Future bright for U.S. Sensational college sophomores Kayla Treanor and Taylor Cummings shined for the U.S. women’s team at Champion Challenge, a US Lacrosse event Jan. 24- 26 in Florida. Treanor, the Syracuse


attacker, combined for 12 goals and four assists in wins over Maryland and North Carolina. Cummings, the Maryland midfielder, scored three goals against her college team.


Both were playing in their second event for the U.S., which will start to reload for the 2017 World Cup. “Cummings and Treanor are phenomenal specimens, athletically,” Team USA coach Ricky Fried said. “They’re just breaking the surface of what they’re doing with us. The future looks very bright right now.” Treanor and three other current collegians on the U.S. roster — Kelly McPartland (Maryland), Tatum Coffey (Penn State) and Taylor Trimble (Duke) — played for the U19 gold medal team in 2011. — C.M.


 Bucknell mourns death of Pat Walsh The Bucknell and St. Joseph’s Prep (Pa.) lacrosse communities reeled in late January when freshman





attackman Joe Walsh died at the age of 19. Bucknell learned of Walsh’s death prior to a Jan. 31 scrimmage at Maryland. Details were not released according to the wishes of the family. “We have heavy hearts,” Bison coach Frank Fedorjaka said.


 UVA’s Walrath pleads guilty, kicked off team After pleading guilty


to misdemeanor assault and obstruction of justice, midfielder Carl Walrath on Jan. 28 was kicked off the Virginia men’s team. Walrath allegedly punched a police officer during a late-night fight near campus around 2 a.m. on Nov. 24. The junior played in nine games last year.

 Atlantic Sun, Southern Conference join forces The Southern Conference


will assume men’s lacrosse from the Atlantic Sun in 2014-15. The A-Sun will continue to sponsor women’s lacrosse. Central Michigan will join the A-Sun as an affiliate for its inaugural women’s season in 2016.


 Tewaaraton tweaks The Tewaaraton Foundation


will release its 50-player men’s and women’s watch lists at a special reception in New York City on Feb. 27, with additions announced March 20 and April 10. Twenty-five men’s and


women’s nominees will be named April 24. Five men’s

 Kerwick wants full- time Cornell gig Cornell announced in


January that interim head coach Matt Kerwick would lead the Big Red for the 2014 season’s entirety. He told LM he’s interested in the full-time job. Cornell will conduct interviews after the season. Meanwhile, the man


he replaced, Ben DeLuca, has landed as a volunteer assistant at Duke and with the U.S. team. RIT assistant M.J. Kiekebelt assumed the same position at Cornell.


and five women’s finalists will be named May 8 and be invited to the Tewaaraton ceremony May 29 in Washington, D.C.


 Lewis, Looney honored Former Navy star and


National Lacrosse Hall of Famer Jimmy Lewis will receive the Tewaaraton Legends Award. The late Brendan Looney was named the recipient of the 2014 Spirit of Tewaaraton Award. The Looney family will accept the award on his behalf.
