What the retailers had to say about December 2013 Most retailers report good sales for December 2013, compared with the previous years.

“December has continued where November left off. Excellent sales of quality product with mid length boots retailing around the £120/ £150 doing very well. The dressier courts business has been slower and slippers are struggling. Waterproof shoes and boots have sold well, but we still get a number of customers complaining that other shoes and boots are not waterproof, even though we have signs around the shop explaining this issue.” Andrew Marshall, Strolling4Shoes, Cumbria.

Several retailers have commented on calf width of ladies boots this season – they are finding the “average” leg width on most boots to be wide for their customers. Few manufactures provide the retailer or the consumer the actual width of the boot at the calf. Some shops are reporting lost sales because most of their ladies boots are TOO wide. Manufacturers who DO provide calf width measurements, please respond to cheryltayloreditor@googlemail.com
