FASHION TENDS Women’s Shoe Predictions for Spring/Summer 2014 For anyone with an eye for fashion, the hope is always that the new season will live up to the success of the one before.
The good news is that as far as SS14 is concerned, it’s looking good and there are currently some killer trends featuring in fashion shows all over the world. In order to remain a step in front of the masses, keep an eye out for some of these key styles members of the public will be clamouring for this year.
Chunky heels
Chunky heels have been one of the biggest footwear trends of 2013 and it looks like they’re here to stay well into the New Year. This is brilliant news for women who can’t cope with the spindly heel of a stiletto and like to keep their feet firmly on the ground. Our particular favourite is the combination of class and comfort that can be seen in these Cloggs Signature Chelsea boots.
Fringes
Fringes are a great accessory when they’re used well and the majority of designers are real masters of the look. However, there have been a few disasters in the past – so you still need to be careful. Minnetonka have got the look just right with these suede fringe boots though and have created day wear that’s the perfect combination of comfort and style.
Athletic influences
Party heels, wedges, flats and everything in between have all been given a makeover in the new season as sportswear makes a shift into everyday style, making smart and casual almost the same thing. Take a look at this great design that’s been brought to us by Ash and combines the classic canvas Converse design with some daytime – or evening – wedges.
Flash trainers
It’s not just the sports shoe that seems to have barged its way into the fashion world though. Take a look at these trainers from Ash. Flair is in plentiful supply in the form of studs, twisted leather and colour which have been added to a traditional baseball shoe. These seem to be an example of things to come during SS14 as the fashion world gives the humble sneaker a makeover.
Graphic design
Bold prints are a firm favourite on the catwalks where some of the trends of SS14 collections are being shown. Stripes seem to be a particular favourite style of many designers – these Rocket Dog shoes are only the beginning of what is set to be a huge catwalk and High Street trend.
Metallic finishes
Winter wardrobes tend to be full of dull, dark colours that reflect the weather and people’s moods, so in order to brighten things up a little, designers have come up with something a little different for the beginning of 2014. The classic shoes we all know and love have been brought up to date with a metallic finish. Just take a look at these Kickers, which have shot from the 80s straight into 2014 in a flash.
Pointy toes
Pointy toed heels, as you will have noticed, are all over the internet as one of the most pictured trends of 2014’s spring/summer season. All manner of heels are being adapted to support the pointy toe but these dark, python pattern French Connection heels are our particular favourite for their versatility and style.
Mesh
It seems as though mesh is likely to have a pretty powerful presence during the SS14 season too, providing the perfect opportunity to say goodbye to winter for good through giving your feet a glimpse of sunlight. These bronze glitter pumps by Mel are some of our favourites as they bring a little bit of sparkle and elegance to a standard flat shoe.
