T e RSPBANI School Ensemble joined the Cross Border Orchestra Ireland in February/March 2013 on the Concert Tour of Ireland. T is venture provided superb experience both musically and socially


for all involved. Six piobaireachd seminars were held


between September ’12 and March ’13. T e success of these seminars is evidenced by the increasing number of competitors in the Ulster and All Ireland Solo Piping Championships. T e instruction given at the ‘Sat’ Centres provides a vital introductory platform for the seminars taken by Chris Armstrong and Glenn Brown.


Added to the Ballymena, Banbridge, Cookstown, Enniskillen and Londonderry ‘Saturday’ Centres was a Pilot Centre in Ballynahinch in Term 2, 2012-13. In the past year there was a signifi cant increase in the School enrolment as indicated below:

Adjudicators Panel Management Board (APMB) Convenor Malcolm MacKenzie reported: ‘T rough the age policy we lost P/M Bob Shepherd who will be a huge loss to the APMB and the RSPBA. Alistair Aitken has resigned and that means that a new training group will have to be formed; he also will be missed for his contribution over the last decade.’


Kenny Crothers of the Finance Committee reported the purchase of new adjudicator tents for £10,000.


Education Offi cer Pat Whelan reported the digitising of the Structured Learning books and that a total of 232 pipers and drummers had sat SQA and PDQB exams.
