I completed my Senior Pipers Course with a recommendation to go forward to my Pipe Majors Course. I completed this in Edinburgh Castle under Captain Gavin Stoddart and
panel included Captain John A MacLellan MBE. He sadly passed away a week later. I competed with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders in Grade 2 and gained prizes at championship level.
I performed at many high level events such as the
acting Pipe Major at a Highland games with a mini band from the Argylls, achieving 1st place and beating bands representing all of the Scottish Regiments. I was honoured to pipe for Her Majesty the Queen in London during Royal Duties at Buckingham Palace and on Horse Guards Parade.
with this band whilst still serving in the Army and
progressed through all grades to Grade 1 in almost successive years.
on a part-time basis and was successful in tutoring what later became a prize-winning competing schools band.
Major with six pipers and no drummers and within three years swept the boards at local pipe band contests winning every competition we entered and won the branch championship outright. We also achieved prizes at championship level.
