Steel Lathe Chuck Shields Protect Operators

Tese 14-gauge steel lathe chuck shields provide individuals a safeguard from point-of-operation hazards and protection from flying chips, sparks, coolant, lubricant and other particles. Te mounting bracket attaches to the face of the headstock. Te shield hinges to the left and rests at a 45-degree angle above the headstock, making it easy to change or adjust the chuck or workpiece. PUNB Binder Extends Sand Work Times


ASK Chemicals, Hilden, Ger- many, recently introduced PEP SET Patriot, a new phenolic urethane nobake (PUNB) binder. Tis new petroleum-based binder has a longer mixed sand working life than previ- ous PUNB binders, and it does not contain sulfur or furfuryl alcohol. Due to the relatively short sand work time of PUNB binders, previ- ous petroleum-based products have been constrained to small-scale manufacturing. Recent research has allowed development of PUNB binders with longer sand work times, giving larger ductile iron manufacturers a potential alterna- tive to furan-based products. Te product is being tested in large ductile iron casting manufacturing facilities and currently is available to
