Maj. Gen. Chris Adams Jr., USAF (Ret) (Life Member since 1983): Adams logged 8,000 flying hours and served two tours in Vietnam. He also served as chief of staff, Strategic Air Command, and as an associate director, Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico. He later joined Andrew Corp. as vice president, Government Systems. In 2011, the Daughters of the American Revolution presented him with its National Medal of Honor. He helped found MOAA’s Greater Granbury (Texas) Chapter.


Maj. Cal Posner, USA (Ret) (Life Member since 1990): Posner served in enlisted status, reaching the grade of E-7, before being commissioned in 1979. In May 2013, Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal appointed Posner a lieutenant colonel, aide-de-camp, Governor’s Staff. In October 2013, Posner was elected president of Georgia MOAA Inc. He is a past president of MOAA’s Atlanta Chapter and the Georgia Federal/Military Retiree Coalition. He now works as an associate professor at Central Michigan University’s Global Campus in Atlanta.


Maj. Dieter H.B. Protsch, USA (Ret): Protsch retired from the military in 1976. Since 2005, he has handed out several thousand prepaid phone cards to patients at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany and at Ramstein air base to traveling servicemembers. He solicits donations from local businesses and has raised funds through the sale of his book, Be All You Can Be: From a Hitler Youth in WWII to a U.S. Army Green Beret (Trafford, 2004).


Capt. Bob Silah, USN (Ret) (Life Member since 1999): After a 27-year Navy career, Silah founded Operation Helping Hand in 2004. Through the program, which MOAA’s Tampa Chapter runs, Silah has helped more than 1,000 seriously injured servicemembers being treated at the James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital. On Nov. 12, 2013, Florida Gov. Rick Scott inducted Silah into the Florida Veterans’ Hall of Fame. Silah serves on MOAA’s board of directors and on its Membership Committee.
