On Friday December 13th, Scaretorium in Columbus Ohio opened its doors for its first Christmas themed event called “Happy Horrordays”. Kelly and Neena Collins, the owner/operators of Scareatorium graciously invited Haunted Attraction Magazine to document the opening night with videos and photos and see first- hand how they inject horror into the “Happiest Time of the year”.

Scareatorium’s main attraction is Northland Asylum and the set up for the holiday event is simple yet inge- nious idea. The inmates have decorated the asylum for the holidays and they might just be roaming around the halls unchecked. The haunt is dressed in Christmas decorations that look like they were put up by de- ranged minds.

I was met by an orderly in the first room of the Asylum and was forced to go through a security check point. They don’t want any sharp objects to get into the hands of the inmates. After a thorough search I en- countered some very colorful characters that were not only scary but often very funny. There was the insane Santa that was sick and tired of cookies, the little girl who killed her parents and “Ain’t gettin’ nothin’ for Christmas” and of course Krampus in all his “naughty children” killing glory!

It was clear that the event was meant to create as much laughter as screams and I was very impressed with the skits that actors were performing Which Mr. Collins wrote himself.

There were cross dressing

nurses, evil elves and killer snowmen all offering ex- cellent performances!

After taking it all in I sat down with Mr. Collins discuss why he decided to do a Christmas horror event.
