Newly designed OCXO from IQD provides ultra low phase noise performance
New from IQD the IQOV-200F OCXO is able to deliver phase noise performance with a close-in measurement of -130dBc @100Hz and a noise floor better than -180dBc across a high frequency range of 80 to 130MHz. The root causes of phase noise and jitter are essentially the same and the IQOV-200F uses a specially designed circuit to allow optimisation of these parameters during production. The IQOV-200F delivers a frequency stability of ±50ppb over the standard -20 to 70 degrees C operating temperature range. Housed in a 36 x 27mm ‘Eurostyle’ package and running off a 12V supply, it offers a sinewave output of 13dBm min. The new model is in production now and any frequency from 80 to 130MHz can be ordered whilst optional pulling can also be specified. Furthermore, the IQOV-200F offers comparatively low power consumption of just 150mA max at 25 degrees C and 350mA max during warm up. The product is suitable for any application
where phase noise is a critical design consideration such as in test and measurement

systems and radar applications. Other examples of applications where low phase noise is a key parameter include Dielectric Resonator Oscillators (DRO) where the very high frequency and large pulling needs to be tied to a reference with very high spectral purity. Again the OCXO signal is multiplied up to the GHz range.

New TSCO delivers low phase noise/low jitter signal source
In response to demand for clock oscillators at frequencies that cannot be generated by a conventional quartz crystal clock oscillator without three or four stages of frequency multiplication which degrades the signal phase noise and jitter performance, Q-Tech has developed a new family of Temperature Compensated SAW Oscillators (TCSO) which can generate a low phase noise/low jitter signal output at frequencies between 300 MHz and 2.5 Ghz.
Q-Tech has overcome the poor temperature stability exhibited by SAW oscillators by adding temperature compensation to the oscillator’s design. The Q-Tech TCSO’s signal output can hold a stability of +/-50PPM over a temperature range of -40 to +85 Degrees Centigrade with a phase noise floor as low as -180dbc/Hz and -130dbc/Hz at 1KHz off-set from the output frequency. For software defined radio systems and other applications using high frequency ADCs the Q- Tech TCSO’s low phase noise/low jitter signal can deliver an improved system signal to noise ratio. An additional feature of the TCSO is that the
output frequency can be pulled +/- 100PPM by an external control voltage making it suitable for use in a PLL to generate a low phase noise signal for radio transmission.
Vishay Intertechnology has introduced a new precision automotive thin film chip resistor featuring high-temperature operation to +155 °C with 100 % power, derated linearly to 0 mW power at +250 °C. Providing a nearly 100 °C extension in operating temperature range over traditional thin film chip resistors, the AEC-Q200- qualified PATT offers an absolute TCR as low as ± 25 ppm/°C and laser-trimmed tolerances down to ± 0.1 %. With a load-life stability of < 0.2 % at 155 °C and full rated power for 1,000 hours, the Vishay Dale Thin Film resistor has been optimised for the low-noise, single-signal processing required to compensate for low offset and temperature drift in high-temperature environments, including under-the-hood automotive applications, high- precision oil and gas exploration, and telecommunications and industrial equipment. Available in a compact 0603 case size (with additional case sizes in development), the PATT resistor offers a wide resistance range from 2.75 Ω to 120 kΩ, with non-standard values available. The device features very low noise of < -35 dB, a low voltage coefficient of 0.1 ppm/V, a power rating of 150 mW, and a 75 V maximum working voltage range. The PATT features a high-purity ceramic
Ohmite introduces new Maxi-Mox resistor option
For the most demanding environments and specifications Q-Tech can supply one of their own high reliability TCXO or OCXO reference oscillators to phase lock the low phase noise TCSO in a single package. A typical PLL assembly could integrate a 2Ghz TCXO locked to a 5Mhz OCXO with a 6 times low noise frequency multiplier to generate a 12Ghz low phase noise output signal. For less demanding environments Q-Tech has a non-hermetic 9mm x 14mm surface mount package which can be integrated into a cost effective system design.

ARCOL Resistor global distributor inventory now online
UK based ARCOL Resistors is now offering its customers an online facility to locate and purchase their wide range of resistor products from their global distribution network. The simple to use “stock locator” can be accessed from Arcol’s homepage and allows customers to find available stock of any resistor available via distribution. Users can refine their search by geographic region and complete or partial part number.
Commenting Tony Daly, Sales Manager of ARCOL Resistors, said “It is important that our customers have fast delivery of our resistors from stock. Our new, online stock locator will greatly simplify the ordering process as all of our major franchised distributors will make their own stock available to the netComponents search-engine. From now on a single visit to our website should direct our customers immediately to the stock they need.” ARCOL offers a wide range of resistors to

Ohmite Manufacturing has added a new non- inductive option to its Maxi-Mox series of thick- film axial terminal resistors. This alternative to the standard configuration is suitable for high frequency applications and controls. These applications include high voltage power supplies, power distribution, medical instrumentation, and avionics in addition to other industrial applications that require high power for high voltage switching and high voltage current
substrate and 10 in gold terminations over nickel barrier for high-temperature HMP soldering, and it withstands ESD to 2 kV per AEC-Q200 Class 1C. The resistor is moisture resistant to MIL-STD-202, method 202; flame resistant in accordance to UL 94 V-0; sulfur resistant per ASTM B809-95 humid vapor test; and 100 % visually inspected per MIL-PRF- 55342. The device is lead (Pb)-free, RoHS- compliant, and halogen-free, and it conforms to Vishay "green" standards. Samples and production quantities of the

AVX adds new high-temp MLCC series to its SpiCalci SPICE modelling software
AVX Corporation has updated its advanced SpiCalci 8.0 SPICE modelling software with the addition of two new high temperature multilayer ceramic capacitor series for power electronics employed in harsh environment applications such as down-hole oil drilling.
Now featuring the SMX-style stacked, switch mode power supply (SMPS) MLCCs and SXP- style encapsulated, radial-leaded MLCCs - both of which are rated for up to 200°C and exhibit low ESR, ESL, and DC leakage in addition to a high frequency performance - SpiCalci 8.0 helps design engineers validate circuits before they are built by allowing them to simulate frequency performance plots and other data for specific AVX components. Available in two dielectrics (C0G and X7R/X9U) and designed to exhibit low ESR/ESL, rugged mechanical shock and vibration capabilities, and a wide frequency response in high pulse, high current, and high temperature applications up to 200°C, the SXP-style and SMX-style MLCCs are suitable for down-hole oil exploration, including logging while drilling and geophysical probes, as well as for space, aerospace, and hybrid automotive applications. Both series are also suited for DC filters in high power, high frequency motor drives and high pulsed-current circuitry. Standard SMX MLCCs are rated for 25-500V and 1nF to 340µF and standard SXP MLCCs are rated for 50-1,000V and 100pF to 10µF; however, both series are available with custom values, ratings, leads, and packaging upon request.
Now included in the SpiCalci 8.0 component
catalogue, design engineers can quickly and easily simulate performance characteristics for SXP and SMX MLCCs in addition to many other advanced MLCC products. Output data includes: temperature vs. applied current, ESR and impedance vs. frequency, maximum current vs. frequency, maximum ripple voltage vs. frequency, and phase angle vs. frequency.
