Halloween parkworld-online.com Get ready for... HALLOWEEN’13

Halloween is a holiday transformed. The costume-clad, candy consuming practices of today are a far cry from All Saints’ Day (or All Hallows’ Even) celebrations that represent the festival’s European roots. But Halloween has changed significantly in modern times, and one of the chief beneficiaries has been the theme parks and attractions industry. Here Park World catches up with a veteran of the monster US haunted attractions industry, while elsewhere a UK operator shares his story and we look at a handful of other standalone and in-park events scaring guests for Halloween 2013. Are you sitting comfortably? Not for much longer…

VISITORS GO WILD FOR BIG AL’S AT YORKSHIRE WILDLIFE PARK

Yorkshire Wildlife Park first introduced Big Als 6oz Beefburgers in the 2012 season when the visitor attraction built its iCaramba! food outlet. The award winning walkthrough wildlife park near Doncaster sold 17,000 burgers in the first season (a 24 week period).

Andy Bremner, Catering Manager at Yorkshire Wildlife Park says: “Big Als burgers have been a huge success. The

products deliver a consistently great taste which our customers love. In fact since introducing Big Als we have only received positive feedback which is significant in the catering industry considering the volume.”

The success of the Big Als 6oz Beefburgers led to the visitor attraction introducing Big Als 4oz Beefburger, BBQ Pork Ribsteak, Chicken Steak and Mesquite Chicken Wings for the 2013 season.

The products sell at £3.95 for a single item or £4.95 for a childrens meal and £6.50 for an adult meal. The products can be served with cheese and pickle as part of a garnish on the bun.

The attraction also serves Big Als as part of its Safari Nights events which run five times a season. The products are served as part of a plated meal deal with a choice of chips, peas or salad.

Andy concludes: “I would thoroughly recommend Big Als to any visitor attraction. It provides a high quality, convenient menu option that is guaranteed to appeal to your visitors.”
