Introducing the
MotionDome A new multimedia theatre has been launched by the British company Holovis. In the MotionDome, audiences are fully surrounded by 180° projection. The dome is scalable from small to large full dome theatres, complete with ride motion technology and the ability to incorporate real time interactive 2D/3D media. It can also be used for dark ride and gaming applications (as pictured left). “Until now, dark rides and media-based motion attractions have never been produced inside a ‘fully’ immersive dome and the incorporation of real time and interactive experiences has never been
achieved,” notes Holovis CEO Stuart Hetherington. “We are giving operators the ability to take it to the next level with high resolution media and a platform where each user could have a unique experience, depending on the path they take.”
Holovis, which is working on the MotionDome with partners Barco and projectiondesign, is keen
to bring its expertise from high end military simulation, real time visualisation and true immersion used by the science, technology and marketing sectors to the attractions industry. The effect achieved in the MotionDome is created by using four active stereoscopic projectors seamlessly edge blended on the curved screen display, positioned above the audience’s eye line. After launching the product at Euro Attractions Show in Paris, Holovis has now developed a state- of-the-art demo facility at its Leicestershire headquarters in central England. Here potential clients can experience various domes, 3D/4D theatres and an “interactive dark ride test cell”.

Duplo Valley coming to
Legoland Florida Legoland Florida, Winter Haven, will open a new area dedicated to toddlers this coming spring. Duplo Valley, themed around Lego's pre- school line will feature new farm- themed attractions, air-conditioned indoor play and a water play area. The central feature will be the Duplo Train where young
guests can board a train on their own or with their parents and explore countryside-themed scenery passing through farms, fishing holes and campgrounds. Just across the way will be a tractor ride. For those looking to cool off, the splash and play area will be refreshing and fun with intermittent water spouts and interactive water elements set among larger than life farm animals with a soft deck for safety. Some of the park's existing attractions will also be enhanced with additional Duplo farm-themed play areas and a toddler room where parents can relax while kids build with Duplo bricks. A Duplo Valley themed area opened earlier this season at Legoland
Windsor near London.
