co-sponsors Harneys and Herbert Smith Freehills launch non-profit women's initiative

10 October 2013 marked the launch of LILA, Ladies in Litigation and Arbitration, a non-profit organisation dedicated to women in dispute resolution in Hong Kong.

Jennifer Chairperson

Maughan, of

LILA

commented: “The concept of LILA came about as we identified an opportunity to create a forum for women practising dispute resolution. We're very excited as we think that LILA has the potential to do great things for the women working in dispute resolution in Hong Kong by providing a common meeting ground and hosting programmes and seminars which deal with the legal and professional issues we face every day. We have the support of a number of firms across the city already and it's great to see that so many people are behind the concept.”

Membership of LILA is open to all and will provide members the opportunity

to participate in a wide range of activities, including seminars on topical issues relating to the industry and workshops on career progression.

The inaugural event was sponsored by Harneys and Herbert Smith Freehills. It was hosted at the China Club and featured a keynote address by Chiann Bao, of

International Arbitration Centre.

Herbert Smith Freehills' Eleanor
