CDISC User Networks Updates and Recent Meetings
CDISC User Networks have been formed around the globe to enable face-to-face interactions among CDISC users in certain geographic areas allowing group members to speak about CDISC in their own languages. User network members volunteer from their busy schedules to contribute to the CDISC mission. Self-formed user networks have been established in the U.S., Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia. Nine active CDISC user networks were created in the U.S. in the Atlantic region (Tri-state: NJ, NY and CT) as well as in San Diego, San Francisco, Boston, Chicago, Delaware Valley (Philadelphia Area), RTP Raleigh, Seattle and in Washington DC. Three user networks currently exist in Europe located in Germany, France and the United Kingdom. There are several other user networks spread across different regions in the world including South Africa, Australia, Japan, China and two other user groups recently formed in India.
For the purpose ofmaintaining effective communications between the CDISC organization and it’s user networks, CDISC operations developed the CDISC User Network Operational Procedure (COP-11) (
http://www.cdisc.org/bylaws-and- policies). The COP is available on the CDISC website under the Bylaws and Policies section. User networks are encouraged to send their updates and feedback to CDISC Communications to ensure early promotion of their events and to share their experiences and latest news through the CDISC communications channels (eNewsletter, social media, CDISC blogs and eblasts). Any updates on the CDISC user networks‘meetings can be sent to Diana Harakeh at (
dharakeh@cdisc.org).
User networks meet several times during the year and attend CDISC interchanges to share current experiences and discuss future plans within their regions. At this year’s International Interchange, held on 6-7 November 2013 in North Bethesda, MD, CDISC user network leaders will meet to discuss their current and future plans and will participate in an open discussion based on the feedback of a recent user network survey conducted in 2013. The survey was intended to ensure awareness of the COP-11 and to gather input and feedback around this policy, to address the needs of the various existing user network members, and to identify parties interested in joining any of the existing CDISC user networks. With the survey results, user network leaders will be able to gain a better visibility on how to maintain the most effective communication between them and the CDISC organization for a broader impact of the CDISC standards on their local regions.
CDISC would like to commend Yoshiteru CHIBA for his excellent communications on the CDISC Japan User Group activities. Below is a recent report.
