A passion for perfection

Thismonth Irish Beautymeets Charlotte Pollock,Managing Director of Chic Salon Supplies, to discovermore about her life in and away fromthe beauty industry.

 I ended up in the beauty industry because…From a very young age I knew I wanted a career in the beauty or hair industry. I chose the beauty industry as I thought it could lead to many different avenues and I would be able to express my creative side a little more. It was always my passion to make people feel good about the way they look. I have an eye for perfection and attention to detail, which is expressed in everything I do.

 If I wasn’t in the beauty industry I would…Be at a loose end! I always wanted to be in the beauty industry and I couldn’t imagine doing anything else. It’s my true passion.

 The best thing about my job is… It’s so versatile, as there are many diverse avenues you can take within the industry – moving into and specialising in so many different areas. I also love to be around people and enjoy building relationships.

 An average day for me is… There is never an average day for me and that’s the way I like it. I like the unknown; it excites me and it’s what I thrive on. Depending on the day I could be teaching one of our accredited courses, running my beauty salon, performing beauty treatments, researching new and innovative beauty products, liaising with suppliers, organising meetings and business trips.

 My ideal weekend would be… Going home to Liverpool. I moved over to Sligo in 2008 with my partner to support him in his football career

(at Sligo Rovers FC) and fell in love with the place. I’d visit my family and friends, socialising with good food and exceptional wine.

 My favourite film is… Les Misérables. I watched it alone on a plane journey and it had me captivated and engrossed. I was in floods of tears by the end, which is quite embarrassing actually when you’re on your own!

 The most famous person I have met is…Shane Filan from Westlife. He is a Sligo native and I would often see him in local restaurants and pubs.

 My favourite part of the world is… Sarasota in Florida, as it’s where I holidayed with my family and holds so many great memories. It’s so laid back and chilled out over there - perfect for me when my life is so hectic at home.

 I could not live without… My laptop. It holds every aspect of my life both professionally and personally. I would be lost without my photographs of family and friends that are on there.

 My favourite beauty treatment is…Mink eyelashes. They provide my eyes with definition and I don’t have to spend time applying mascara. I wake up feeling glamorous and ready to face the world.

When growing up my role model was…My Mum. She’s a hard- working, glamorous lady with plenty of flair. She always supported and believed in whatever I wanted to do, and was always on-hand to help me make decisions and guide me in the right direction.

 I would like to be remembered as…Me - plain and simple.
