validate studies, oversee and coordinate construction work, and accept engineering structures. It will also approve pre-commissioning tests. Design work is already

Iconic architecture for key interchanges


HE ADAhas appointed international architects to develop striking designs for three of the key interchanges


on the Riyadh Metro. Gerber Architects, Germany, is designing the Olaya hub at


the intersection of lines 1 and 2, which will be situated between Olaya Street and King Fahad Road, close to the Kingdom Tower and King Abdullah Road. Inside the station, a large, open entrance hall will give visitors a view across all four storeys of the building, including the two metro lines, a mezzanine level with shops and food halls, and an open concourse where the ticket barriers will be located.
