Pigalle Fashion Trends A day in the-

Where else do you look for inspiration? I look around me at street culture and pay

attention to people who are visually interesting or who seem to be forward or different. I like to see what people are wearing on the streets when they aren't expecting to have their photo taken.

What are the big pop culture influences right now? Grimy youth culture- ATL twins, Harmony

Korine with his new movie "Spring Breakers", Larry Clark documenting it all, Odd Future, Grimes and The Dirty Girls. I think people are interested in the eternal youth. There are a lot of young personalities getting a lot of attention and affecting culture.

The 90s - grunge, raver, goth, Clueless

How long have you been working in Fashion? Six years.

Describe a typical day? Review daily deliverables and sort

materials and images to compile a board or story. I also look to outside influences, mainly through the web.

How long does it take to compile a trend board? I compile a single board in one day and

reports take roughly three days after I have images ready to use or have gathered the material.

Which shows/events do you attend to get ideas? With Stylesight, I attend shows during

fashion week and visit showrooms and trade shows for collection previews. Living in NYC, I constantly attend art events and installations for inspiration.

etc. Also goes a bit hand in hand with the above except for the more high end or mature 90s looks that is also coming back - brands like Rachel Comey and Robert Clergerie are a good example of the more grown up 90s footwear aesthetic. Androgynous styling - My favourite!

How does Stylesight announce new trends? Stylesight has blogs for each category,

twitter, facebook, and instagram. Everyone seems to prefer Instagram these days. We also have a video team.

Are there any designers that really stand out for you? I love Scandinavian designers and

styling-Sandra Backlund for her innovative knits and Acne Studios for their fine accessories and footwear. My favourite bigger names are Stella McCartney, Celine (of course), Jil Sander... I typically love a minimalist aesthetic although not limited to it- I thought the Lanvin F/W 13 runway collection was beautiful and that Hache was really fresh and youthful. Mainly though, I am drawn to smaller designers.

How do runway trends to filter through to the high street? Many brands seed product onto bloggers

and other personalities that are sure to be photographed/interviewed so that they are wearing it to shows and well before it hits stores. Fast fashion brands copy the looks very quickly, making them accessible as well.

Which of the current shapes, colours and textures do you see as the big sellers? As for current looks, I see high platforms as bigger sellers as there are so many interpretations; juniors and women's looks. Pointy toe shapes for pumps, boots, oxfords and flats. Loafers in all sorts of varieties are big. White remains a common all over colour and looks fresh as an outsole or heel against darker uppers, reds in various shades, and electric blue. We are starting to see hologram or iridescent uppers and trim and a ton of all over metallic (rose gold feels newest)!
