“March has been a very difficult month totally due to the weather. We had snow or extremely cold winds which has made summer stock extremely hard top sell. The one product that has completely gone against this is a new canvas brand called TBS. The sales on this have been amazing to such a point I have repeated more than I originally ordered already. “Overall sales in the children's fitted sector, where we are, are still very depressed (and depressing!). Parents continue to use our services to find out size and width then think they can safely go anywhere and buy cheaper or, worse still, buy on-line - how wrong can they be. A little knowledge is a very dangerous thing - not for themselves but for their children on whom they are inflicting untold damage (not immediately obvious, but will become apparent in years to come.) “We are all suffering the squeeze (you should hear our pips squeaking, and we are on the last notch of our very tight belts), but there are still many ways they can manage to afford a decent pair of properly fitted shoes for their children. After all, we are in this together and have made many sacrifices to ensure we are still here when this protracted downturn eventually comes to an end and we start seeing those "green shoots" again. Even a small thing like giving up your regular carton of "cardboard coffee" from your favourite high street take-away can potentially save just shy of £400 a year - it's a no brainer!
