Flying Colours Granted AS9100 Cert, Expands
SpiceJet and Turkish Sign for Component Support
SpiceJet and Turkish Technic, have signed a contract for comprehensive component support for the airline’s Boeing 737 NG fleet for a term of five years extendable to ten years.
The contract comprises component supply and repair on ATA Chapter basis. Components will be supplied from Istanbul, Turkey. Repair and overhaul work of the components will be executed at the Turkish Technic sites in Istanbul, Turkey.
SpiceJet operates in Chennai International Airport (Chennai), Indira Gandhi International Airport (Delhi), Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (Hyderabad) operates 37 Boeing 737-800 / 737-900ER and 15 Bombardier Q400.
Flying Colours has achieved the AS9100 certificate for quality and safety management for the aerospace industry. The certificate was awarded in March 2013 and reflects the significant investment Flying Colours has made in developing the LEAN technology production and manufacturing systems at their
facilities in Ontario and at JetCorp
Technical Services in St Louis. The use of LEAN technology was implemented by Flying Colours two years ago and has successfully improved efficiency as well as enhancing production times and quality standards. This was one of the principal factors in Bombardier appointing Flying Colours as a Preferred Completion Center.
Flying Colours has also expanded its CRJ conversion program beyond executive aircraft. It is now a third of the way through an extensive schedule, which will see eight CRJ 200 regional airliners converted into sixteen-seat executive shuttle configuration for an undisclosed client. The complete shuttle conversion sees each aircraft fitted with new business
jet first class seats,
a new executive shell kit, upgraded galley, refurbished
lavatory, and Swift
broadband installation. This is the first time that Flying Colours has been involved in executive shuttle configurations. “We continually look at
to develop our client offering that fits within our capabilities but that also broadens our experience. Working with these shuttle conversions has been an excellent new challenge and we are now looking at a growing number of opportunities in this sector,” said Sean Gillespie, VP, Flying Colours. In response to the increase in client demand Flying Colours will begin the first phase of a three-phase infrastructure expansion project this June. With an investment of more than $2.5 million dollars the initial phase will see the addition of 20,000 square feet added to the third hangar at Flying Colours’ Peterborough facility which on completion will be used to accommodate the time span and number of aircraft in the conversion shuttle program.
