able MX5 also has the fl exibility to produce mixed batches. The MX 5 features a lower price, a lower-powered 26-kW spindle, and fewer wheel packs (two), making it suitable for a wide range of requirements including grinding of the majority of HSS and carbide cutting tools up to 16 mm. Grinding wheel and spindle are supported in the machine by a huge casting called the bi-symmetrical gantry that evenly straddles the tool center line, minimiz- ing the effects of thermal growth and providing the high rigidity required for producing consistently accurate tools. This design allows the grinding wheel to remain very close to the C-axis pivot point. This confi guration produces the highest levels of profi le accuracy for tools requiring substantial fi ve-axis movements, such as corner radius, or ballnose end mills. Anca Inc.

High-Defi nition 3D Scanner The ATOS Triple Scan 12M is the new- est addition to the ATOS series of 3D scanners using noncontact structured blue LED technology for high-defi ni- tion 3D scanning and inspection ap- plications. The scanner is engi- neered with high-qual- ity optics, advanced hard- ware, and intelligent software for high-

resolution 3D scanning, accurate measurements, and fast comprehen- sive inspection analysis with virtual 3D color maps. The scanner takes a single volumetric scan containing 12

million data points in seconds, and it can measure small to extra-large objects with intricate feature detail. The Triple Scan Blue Light functionality improves the line of sight, minimizes the number of scans it takes to measure an
