PRACTICAL TRAINING FOR LAWYERS AND SUPPORT STAFF

An efficient practice depends on efficient staff. That’s why we offer a comprehensive range of practical courses aimed at equipping support staff and newly- admitted solicitors with the legal knowledge and administrative skills they need. Choose from online and face-to-face modules in areas as diverse as conveyancing, wills and probate, family law and customer service in the legal environment. In 2013 we’ll also be launching a brand new online course, Conveyancing for Solicitors, which follows on from the success of our online Wills and Probate for Solicitors course launched in 2012.

The Law Society and NSW Young Lawyers coordinate over 150 CPD seminars each year. Presented by expert speakers from the courts and the profession, these seminars are designed for practitioners at all stages of their careers. CPD seminars are available in both substantive law and the mandatory requirements of Solicitors Rule 42 MCLE in the areas of Practice Management, Ethics, Professional Skills and Regulation 176.

Mentoring programs

The Law Society offers two mentoring programs for members. The NSW Young Lawyers Mentoring Program unites young and newly-admitted lawyers seeking guidance and support with more experienced practitioners, while the Law Society of NSW Women’s Mentoring Program gives women lawyers at 10-15 years post-admission the opportunity of spending dedicated time with senior lawyers.
