The Law Society provides a number of services to help reduce the pressures of practice and improve health and wellbeing.

The Lawyer’s Guide to Sanity, Profitability

and Wellbeing Seminars This popular program helps practitioners improve their mental health and wellbeing, make better decisions and achieve more positive outcomes while managing the pressures of practice.

The seminars help solicitors meet the mandatory requirements of Solicitors Rule 42 MCLE and are held at several locations throughout NSW. More than 3,000 members have already attended.

Member Assistance Program (MAP)

The Law Society has engaged Davidson Trahaire Corpsych to provide an additional support service for members facing personal and work-related issues. MAP offers confidential, anonymous and short-term counselling by qualified social workers and psychologists 24-hours a day. Meetings can take place in person, by telephone or online.

Lawyers Assistance Program (LAP)

LAP is a free and confidential counselling service for solicitors experiencing practice management issues. The program coordinator is an experienced solicitor and can refer members to counsellors, agencies or schemes for further assistance.

LawCare

LawCare provides confidential access to a professional counsellor. Members only pay for face-to-face consultations.

The Senior Solicitors’ Scheme provides confidential assistance to solicitors who are the subject of a complaint with the Office of the Legal Services Commissioner. The Scheme consists of a panel of experienced solicitors who have in-depth knowledge of the procedures relating to conduct and disciplinary matters.
