Supporting your practice
In 2013 we’ll be working hard to give our members the resources they need to build a flourishing practice and have a satisfying career in the law.
• In March 2013, we launched the CareerHub, a web- based information portal, offering key insights and knowledge on what it takes to have a successful career as a lawyer today.
• In 2012, we built the Small Practice Portal, now complemented by our popular smalltalk e-Newsletter, which provides insights into successful practice.
• Our Young Lawyers Mentoring Program has expanded to around 150 pairs of mentors and protégés, and is now in its fifth year.
• Our new Women’s Mentoring Program is helping lawyers who have been practising for between 10 and 15 years.
Supporting your profession
We know that a connected and informed legal profession provides real benefits for the community. In 2013 we’re providing you with more opportunities to expand your knowledge, network and engage with the community.
• We’ll be working hard to raise the profile of our profession through a robust, credible and positive media presence.
• We will consult with government to uphold the rule of law and make submissions on areas that affect our profession and the community (we made more than 140 submissions to government in 2011/12 alone).
• We will expand our thought leadership and educational initiatives and engage with the community through programs such as Mock Mediation, Mock Trial and Law Week.
You can find out more about each of these, and how to get involved with our community, on the Law Society website.
