Solicitor Referral Service


We encourage all practices to register for our referral service, which provides more than 21,500 online and telephone referrals a year to people looking for legal help or a law firm. Around 1,600 private firms are currently registered.

The Law Society of New South Wales Scheme


Administered by the Law Society exclusively for members, this scheme allows members in private practice to limit their civil liability to selected amounts, provided they meet the requirements.

LawCover


The LawCover group of companies is wholly-owned by the Law Society of NSW. LawCover underwrites Professional Indemnity Insurance (PII) for solicitors for up to $2 million each under the Legal Profession Act 2004 (NSW). Optional Top Up Insurance up to $20 million is also available.


LawCover manages all aspects of a claim for solicitors who have had claims made against them and provides risk management to helps solicitors minimise the risk of having claims made against them. LawCover also manages the Solicitors’ Mutual Indemnity Fund (SMIF).

Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)


The Law Society provides a service connecting disputing parties to experienced ADR practitioners. We also offer resources and seminars to assist solicitors seeking opportunities in this growing area of practice.


Since it was established in 1991, the Law Society Mediation Program has mediated more than 1,000 disputes.


Eligible members can join the program by attaining national accreditation as a mediator.
