UNDER THE RADAR  RULING CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA When Pennsylvania lacrosse comes to mind, most people envision the eastern part of the state and the powerhouses around Philadelphia. But for the last few years, Manheim Township in Lancaster, Pa., has been on the verge of breaking up that vision.

The Blue Streaks went a combined 47-2 in 2011 and 2012, defeating the likes of Conestoga and Strath Haven. The two losses — to Garnet

Valley (2012) and Great Valley (2011) — were by a combined three goals in the state playoffs. All-American midfi elder Molly Hendrick will play at North Carolina.“Molly is a force all over the fi eld,” Manheim coach Mark Pinkerton said. The Blue Streaks play Great Valley on April 26. “We’re

Molly Hendrick, a North Carolina- bound midfielder, was a first-team US Lacrosse All- American in 2012.

looking forward to the chance to prove that we can run with the best Philly teams,” Pinkerton said.

GAMES TO WATCH  CULVER MILITARY (IND.) VS.

BROTHER RICE (MICH.) April 13

These Midwest powers always put on fi reworks. Brother Rice lost just two games last season by a combined four goals. The teams split their two meetings, with Brother Rice winning the fi rst 9-8, but Culver winning its season-ending contest 11-8.

 BOYS’ LATIN (MD.) AT CALVERT HALL (MD.) April 19

The top two teams in the Nike/US Lacrosse Preseason National High School Boys’ Top 25 go head- to-head. The fi eld is loaded this year, with the Lakers and Cardinals combining to boast 37 players already signed or verbally committed to play Division I lacrosse in college.
