NYGT Group was founded in New York in the 1930s and has, for many years, combined independent trusts with an investment management and private banking house profile.
The firm we know today has evolved by exponential growth and has gained an enviable reputation as a leading financial services firm which offers a full and innovative range of services. Today, there are over 100 consultants who operate from 8 principal offices from New York to London, Tokyo to Hong Kong, providing corporate finance management and advisory services to private clients, professional practices and mid-large corporation.
NYGT Group also recognizes the fundamental importance of good corporate citizenship and awareness of the communities around us and in which we operate. We recognize that our business has an environmental and social impact on society through our operations, direct donations and through our contribution to the wider economy.
In addition to corporate charitable contributions, a number of staff and directors serve as volunteers of charities and the firm gives encouragement to these and other voluntary activities. We continually reassess ways in which we can more effectively evaluate and monitor the environmental and social conditions upon which we have impact, in the belief that improvements in these areas will not only benefit our community but also resonate with our ultimate responsibility to our shareholders by adding value to our business operations.
The three masterminds behind this well lubed machine are Mr. Gordon Potter, Mr. Kenneth Mak and Dr. Kenneth Cheung.
Mr. Potter has extensive experiences in the financial industry and executive instinct for business advisory. Being the founder of Wiltshire Capital and the president and director for International Health and Beauty Inc. (a listed company on the Vancouver Stock Exchange) in the 1990s, Mr. Potter understands the vitality of relationship between business decision making and business profitability. Mr. Potter currently holds the position of Managing Director of Finance with NYGT and oversees the investment portfolio for the company.
Mr. Kenneth Mak was a 25-year Citibank veteran who had spent the majority of his career in the US bank and held various key positions in the banking operation, including IT and syndication loan businesses. Driven by his desire to do something new and entrepreneurial, Mr. Mak left Citibank in 2002 and co-founded the company Synipo Holdings Limited, which later merged with NYGT and Mr. Mak currently serves as the Managing Partner with the Group.
The other Managing Partner of the Group is Dr. Kenneth Cheung, who joined the corporate finance department of NYGT in 1999 and had specific expertise in administration and establishment of trusts and asset management. Dr. Cheung had specialized in private client work for over 10 years. Dr. Cheung holds the Executive Certificate of Corporate Valuation For Senior Management Certificate from Harvard University, Corporate Finance Certificate from The International Faculty of Finance, a fellow member of the Hong Kong Institute of Directors and also featured in International Who’s Who. Dr. Cheung is currently further developing his professional training by pursuing
Trust and Estate
designation offered by The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).
