THERE WERE CHEERS, A PAPARAZZI SCRUM AND LOTS OF HUGS AS 87 CYCLISTS ARRIVED AT MIPIM ON TUESDAY AFTER MAKING THE 1,500KM JOURNEY FROM LONDON TO CANNES. THE PELOTON, WHICH LEFT LONDON ON THURSDAY LAST WEEK, WAS LED BY OLYMPIC SILVER MEDALLIST LIZZIE ARMITSTEAD AND THE RIDERS WERE WELCOMED TO CANNES BY MAYOR OF LONDON BORIS JOHNSON.

Today we have done rather well. Our swag has grown considerably and has been dominated by fluffy toys. Our haul includes:
“I don’t actually want to sit down if I can avoid it. It really hurts.”
•3 x cuddly toys (pictured) including Guernsey cow, Moscow bear and Lyon lion (ALL asked for in French, we would like to add)
•2 x beer mats – featuring a cockerel and a cat
•1 x sustainable lighter • 1 x pair of 3D glasses •4 x rose-flavoured French sweets
•1 x plastic pot of pickled herring (returned)
• 1 x Holistic survival tin •3 x Colliers International umbrellas
•1 x Polish stand bag including brochure offering the chance to buy ex-military sites

Hang the DJ is off this year but that’s OK. It’s SO 2012. 2013 is all about karaoke and puns. Assembly Studios is launching “Rock the Cash Bar” tonight at LeCosMos 9pm until late.
