Some are turning to scientists, others to 530-year-old monarchs, but whatever gets bodies to stands, one thing that is noticeable at this year’s MIPIM is the number of UK cities in attendance. New kids in the Palais des Festivals include Cardiff, Glasgow, Leicester and York. They join MIPIM stalwarts Coventry, Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds, suggesting that now is the time to be setting out your stall ready for a market recovery. “We had the opportunity to take a stand and want to try
and increase the profile of Cardiff as an inward investment location,” says Gemma Brown, principal business development officer at Cardiff city council. It is a similar story for Glasgow. Anne Murray,
business relationship manager at the city council, says this year’s visit is about “dipping a toe in the water”.
