Electro-Motive Diesel signs support contract with Freightliner Maintenance
E
lectro-Motive Diesel (EMDL) has signed a three-year agreement with Freightliner Maintenance for material supply and technical support, with the option to extend for a further two years. The contract contains a two-year exclusivity agreement for
EMDL to provide Freightliner Maintenance with overhauled D43 Traction Motors and Power assemblies. EMDL will provide Freightliner Maintenance with a number
of key benefits, including joint procurement initiatives, customer forecasting to allow EMDL to make significant investment in protective stock, as well as dedicated account management for material, technical and warranty enquiries. Dave Curtis, general manager at Freightliner Maintenance
said: ‘We have always chosen to work with EMDL to supply the majority of spare parts and overhaul equipment to ensure the best quality components are used on our loco fleet. Hughes gets green light on metro system A
Hughes Pumps rail cleaning pumpset unit is being used on the capital of Taiwan, Taipai’s Metro system for jetting away dirt and grease from underground rail tunnels and railheads to reduce fire risk and increase traction. The Hughes pumpset uses a 400 kW (540 hp) Caterpillar engine fitted with a catalytic converter, making it suitable for underground use, driving a 200 bar HPS3000 pump and a 900 bar HPS2200 pump via a transmission developed by Hughes to provide two output shafts from a single input. The system includes nine separate cleaning channels to enable various areas of the tunnel to be cleaned individually or altogether and is controlled by a programmable pogic controller (PLC) mounted in the train driver’s cab.
