About us – Docklands Light Railway Ltd. is a part of Transport for London. The railway carries 100 million passengers per year and is continually developing. It is critical that the operational capability of the railway grows with it, so we can further improve both performance and customer satisfaction.
The role – You’ll manage - as a client - the quality of operational service delivery, developing your ideas to become a key part of the day-to-day life of the railway. You’ll challenge our railway partners to develop superior plans for events and occurrences around the DLR; you’ll drive them to consistently higher standards.
You’ll also help shape the next DLR Franchise through your ideas and your eye for the bigger picture.
What you’ll need – With experience of working for a train operator in an operational management role, you will be a confident communicator who can influence people at all levels. You’ll understand performance improvement and the primacy of safety and efficiency. You’ll also know what it takes to develop a solid operational plan and demonstrate the creative flair and the commercial knowledge to negotiate strong, viable outcomes.

This is an exciting opportunity to join ATOC’s London Support team. We are looking for an innovative, self-starting individual who would relish the opportunity to make a real difference to passengers by contributing to the “smart revolution” in rail industry ticketing.
You will support the train companies in two ways. Firstly, on their behalf, you will manage the day-to-day operation of the Oyster Pay As You Go contract with Transport for London. You will need a good grounding in contract management, have first class interpersonal skills and be adept at brokering agreements reconciling differing parties’ objectives.
Secondly, you will work with the train companies, the Department for Transport and Transport for London to develop a commercial agreement and an implementation plan governing the use of ITSO smart products on the Oyster network. You will need strong negotiating skills and experience of managing complex, multi-party infrastructure and software projects.
You will regularly report to the train companies through ATOC’s formal governance structures, so you will need highly-developed influencing and persuading skills, both informally and in presentations, and the ability to construct concise, logical and persuasive written reports and papers to senior managers.
