he Calypso is one of the latest offer- ings from Flyzone that promises al- most immediate flying gratification out of the box. The only true glider in the growing Flyzone line-up does not dis- appoint. From the moment the colorful box is opened, it is evident that a good deal of de- sign and engineering thought went into the production of this model.
The injection-molded EPO foam parts are clean and dense and nicely decorated with already applied stick-on decals in a striking green and black color scheme that makes it easy to see in the air. The large hollow-mold-
ed canopy fits snugly on the fuselage, held in place by strong flush-mounted magnets, both fore and aft. The tail surfaces feature a symmetrical airfoil with rudder and eleva- tor surfaces hinged in the molding process. The undercambered wings are two pieces, connected by a wing tube which is in turn held in place by two grub screws hidden on the bottom of each wing panel. A carbon fiber spar, visible on the bottom of each wing panel adds strength to the flowing shape with its up-swept tips. The wings plug into molded cut-outs on each side of the fuselage and are easily removable for transport.
