37 Vessel arrests -

At the end of 2012, a Ghanaian court approved the seizure of an Argentine ship as part of an on-going dispute between the country and its creditors. The court ruled in favour of an American financial fund which argued that it was owed $370 million by the Argentine government due to an earlier default on its debt. The fund demanded $20 million from Argentina in return for the vessel’s release. However, as the ship is a military vessel, Argentina has called the move by the fund illegal as the seizure violates maritime law.

competition Enforcement in the EU -

EU regulators have said that Microsoft has failed to keep a promise to offer consumers a choice of browsers, breaking a competition agreement it made with antitrust regulators in order to avoid a costly fine three years ago. The failures allegedly occurred between February 2011 and June 2012.

EU Competition Commissioner Joaquin Almunia said that companies must do what they promise to “or face the consequences.” He also warned that “companies should be deterred from any temptation to renege on promises or even to neglect their duty."
