Given that the company says it is showcasing a comprehensive array of AV and UC solutions, it’s per- haps not surprising that specialist distributor Vitec is occupying two stands at ISE 2013. Key themes are conferencing, communicating and presenting. Highlights include up-to-date HD
Super-slim holographic projection
Holocube
A 3D holographic platform for daylight environments with plug and play control, the new Holocube HC19 Super Slim is aimed at suppliers of high- quality goods. The platform was launched in 2007, and the new version is
described as a slimmer 19in unit which has an invisible bottom screen and runs HD video. It offers other improvements such as strong aluminium housing, an LED backlight in the screen with brightness up to 1600cd/m³ for use in all light conditions, as well as non-reflective synthetic mate- rial in the front and back to pro- tect the holographic chamber. room systems and the recently introduced Polycom RealPresence videoconferencing software, as well as Deutsche Telekom’s VideoMeet videoconferencing service. What the company describes as
simple, affordable and flexible solutions that Vitec provides for specialised trade partners via exclu- sive co-operation with vendors StarLeaf and ZTE – particularly those for small and medium-sized enterprises – are also on display. The company is also showcasing wireless conference phones from
Revolabs, Visix PowerPoint-based Appoint digital signage solution, and n.sure services from n.runs offering a custom-fit IT security bundle for the current UC and communications environments. In addition to HDX series room videoconferencing systems, Vitec is presenting the Polycom RealPres- ence Mobile and Desktop HD video software solutions. With the free-to-download RealPresence Mobile solution, enterprises can, via iOS and Android smartphones and tablets, integrate their mobile
workers into their enterprise-wide video collaboration. The software supports HD video, audio and content sharing, and also offers major additional features when integrated in the Polycom plat- form, such as multipoint, H.323 and SIP support for extended usability, AES encryption, and H.460 firewall traversal. ArrayCalc hits v7 d&b audiotechnik
German pro-audio manufacturer d&b audiotechnik will introduce the next version of its ArrayCalc simulation software at the show. Version 7 of the software allows
users to perform acoustic simula- tions with a selection of d&b point source loudspeakers, such as the xS-Series from the White installa- tion range as well as the Q and E- Series from the Black range. The updated software also sim-
plifies the process of creating remote control workspaces for line
arrays and point source loudspeak- ers via an export function into the d&b R1 Remote control software. The additional algorithms address the requirements of a d&b-style simulation and planning tool for a complete installation project, as well as those of the corporate and AV rental markets. This new release will ease those simulation and performance fore- casts for pure point-source rein- forcement designs as well as hybrid designs – including line arrays – that have been difficult up to now. Media Links integration intoPIX
Belgian manufacturer intoPIX is integrating its JPEG2000 FPGA technology into Media Links MD8000 multi-port cards.
The new MD8000-UVTX/ UVRX Media Links transmis- sion cards are cost-effective boards that support higher bit-rate services across the MD8000 series of transport solutions. They are available in two versions; transmitting and receiving uncompressed or JPEG2000 SMPTE 2022 compressed signals. Each card has four ports
for transmission of uncom- pressed video (3G-SDI/HD- SDI/SD-SDI), compressed video (JPEG2000 up to 500Mbps), and DVB-ASI via 10G/1G Ethernet and SONET/SDH.
The multiformat boards support either electrical or fibre connections, providing a straightforward path to SDI over fibre applications for long-distance transmission. Additional functions include signal error correction, hitless switching and auto-protection switching.
