Marketing Conference Provides Insight on Growing Profits More than 80 metalcasting indus-
try sales and marketing professionals attended the 2012 AFS Marketing and Selling of Castings Conference held Dec. 10-11 in Schaumburg, Ill. Te conference focused on working to maximize profits. MODERN CASTING columnist Dan Marcus, TDC Consulting, Am-
herst, Wis., kicked off the event with a preconference seminar, “Te Great Escape: Freeing Your Business From the Prison of Too Much Production and Too Little Profit.” Keynote speaker Barry Moltz highlighted day two with his presentation “Escape the Double He- lix Trap and Boost Your Sales.” Moltz
discussed common pitfalls metal- casters experience, such as failing to maximize their list of prospects. Te Young Executives of Metal-
casting group also met during the conference. Te group typically meets twice each year and supports the endeavors of the new generation of metalcasting executives.
Jim Glassman, managing director and senior economist, JP Morgan Chase & Co., pro- vides insight on the economic future of the manufacturing sector.
CastExpo’13 Is Coming Metalcasters, industry suppli-
ers, and casting buyers and designers will head to St. Louis, April 6-9, for CastExpo’13, the largest metalcasting industry event of the year. Tis must- attend industry event brings together the metalcasting supply chain under the same roof for four days. The event is expected to show-
case more than 400 exhibitors. Interested exhibitors can reserve booth space online at
www.castexpo. com, and view an up-to-date list of exhibitors, which can be easily viewed from a mobile device. Cast in North America will be
back by popular demand. This part of the show floor has been created to allow metalcasters to exhibit their capabilities to designers and buyers of castings. New this year to the event is the CastExpo’13 app which will be available early in February for all Droid and iOS devices. Attendee registration for Cast- Expo’13 will open Jan. 16.
