CARBON TECHNOLOGY The biggest influence on a rods performance is of course the material. At Daiwa we have pushed and refined the ‘resin to carbon’ volumes and importantly the performance of different densities of carbon being used. By increasing the volume of fibre and reducing the amount of resin we like to describe it as ‘more muscle, less fat’; the route to a finer rod.
ROD TECHNOLOGY POLE TECHNOLOGY
Normal Carbon: Usually the carbon sheet contains a large amount of resin between the carbon fibers.
HVF Carbon: ‘High Volume Fibre’ combines lowered volumes of resin to reduce weight with an increased amount of carbon to deliver more strength.
SVF Carbon: By reducing the amount of resin further than HVF our ‘Super Volume Fibre’ has an ultra-high density of carbon and very low level of resin. This achieves lightness and power but with flex in a slimmer blank.
Super MSG: Exclusive to poles Super MSG (Multi Strand Graphite) is designed for poles. It follows HVF with reduced resin but employs a higher modulus of carbon fibre. This helps us achieve siffness, responsiveness but strength with a lower weight.
HYPER MSG: Exclusive to poles Hyper MSG (Multi Strand Graphite) features very high grade carbon with the same resin volumes as Super MSG. This ‘upgrade’ in performance delivers even quicker responsiveness with the same level of strength.
INTEGRATED TAPING SYSTEM ITS is created during the curing process. The wide, textured tape, used to secure the carbon cloth to the mandrel, is applied at a precisely controlled pitch of 2.5mm. This is encased by a second helix of narrower tape, compressing the first against the carbon. The impressed texture on the cured blank surface also creates a higher frequency of ‘resin ridge’. The effect is a low friction surface without the added weight of paint.
MEGA TOP The increased accuracy of longitudinal fibres combined with even distribution of bonding resins gives us a solid carbon tip that has no spine or bias and delivers amazing increase in toughness and durability.
DIAMOND SATIN Intense development and numerous trials have seen our designers strike the perfect balance to create the ultimate slide easy finish. Special low friction paint with superior hardness and high water repellent properties has been blended with a textured pigment, made to very high tolerances, creating an even, finished effect that stops the hand sticking when shipping pole sections.
X45 X45 solves the problem of rod twist and power loss. Daiwa has developed bilateral 45° carbon fibre that is combined with 0° and 90° carbon, creating a rod construction that is highly resistant to deforming. This is X45. This resultant toughness comes into its own when a rod is bent or
twisted. It increases power conversion, enhances responsiveness, strength, sharpness and feel.
V-JOINT On every rod the joint is an area of potential stiffness, interrupting the smooth shape of a rods curve. By applying bias carbon and V-Joint; turning the fibre direction into a diagonal position, our designers have delivered to the perfect balance between flex and strength.
