40 or so, of ‘founder’ exhibitors because we believed it would, in time, become THE event in Europe. We could see the many advantages of exhibiting at one big, far-reaching, must-attend event instead of four, five or six less well-focused regional fairs. How has it helped your business? ISE has also been the starting point for many partnerships with other companies. It was, in fact, a random conversation with another exhibitor at the first ISE in Geneva that was the seed for what has become our award- winning universal control platform, Stardraw Control. What’s your best memory of ISE? Some of the stories I’ve heard about friends’ experiences in Amsterdam’s more exotic and
colourful evening spots. Particularly those with a fruit- based theme.
Simon Curtis, managing director, Cloud Electronics
What first attracted
you to ISE? ISE’s success and significance was inevitable, even back in 2004. It was clear that video and control were going to have a significant influence in some way throughout the consumer, contracting, installation and commercial sectors – it was only a matter of when. ISE was all about timing and jumping on the up-curve at the right moment: what it represented was trailblazing but it
was supported by the right association, based in a central European location and didn’t restrict its audience appeal – the rest was about waiting for the technologies, markets and integrators to “get-it”. How has it helped your business? ISE has helped Cloud Electronics mature and evolve in the AV/systems integration arena. What’s your best memory of ISE? Best memory – to be part of an exhibition as it sparkles and burns so bright (figuratively speaking!)
THE NEWCOMERS David Kung, president, CHIAYO
What are you doing at ISE for 2013?
CHIAYO is a manufacturer of professional wireless microphones. We have the largest-scaled production base of wireless/wired/ infrared microphones in Taiwan. At ISE 2013, we will demonstrate our latest portable wireless amp products, infrared and wireless mic systems, Cat5 conference systems and tour guide system. What do you hope to get out of ISE? With our advanced and innovative products, we’d like to meet more customers who want to represent CHIAYO brand and products worldwide. Furthermore, as a strong R&D team and manufacturing facility, we’d also like to provide OEM/ ODM service and production to customers who want to make products under their brand.
Dan Dugan, Dan Dugan Sound Design
What are you doing at ISE for 2013?
My automatic mixing technology is little-known in Europe. Yamaha has introduced my Dugan-MY16 product in Europe from the US, so it seems like a good time to let people know about my entire product line.
What do you hope to achieve at the event? To show Europeans what Dugan automatic mixing is all about! And to meet prospective dealers. Why have you hesitated to exhibit in the past? The expense and the energy. I do three trade shows in the US every year, NAB, InfoComm, and AES. I don’t have much room for more, but the European market seems too important to neglect.
Clive Kinton, sales manager, Ohm UK Ltd
What are you doing at ISE 2013? Ohm is introducing the Total Clarity range of speakers designed for both installation and road use. The Total Clarity line includes seven full-range cabinets and four subwoofers designed to have common voicing and classic Ohm styling. What do you hope to achieve at the show?
This is our first time at ISE and we hope to meet many new end users, resellers and distributors who have not previously had chance to appreciate the high-quality British- built products we are famous for.n
THE EXPANDERS BOTH ISCE AND RCF BEGAN EXHIBITING AT ISE OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS, AND ARE NOW EXPANDING THEIR PRESENCE AT THE SHOW
Ros Wigmore, secretariat manager, Institute of Sound and
Communications Engineers (ISCE)
What are you doing at ISE in 2013? As a professional body, the ISCE has a responsibility to promote technical excellence within the audio industry. Our main purpose at the show is to increase awareness of our Institute to contractors and engineers. This will be our third year exhibiting at ISE, and we will be representing our members and supporting members who are not necessarily directly exhibiting there. How has ISE helped your business? To gain more awareness. Last year was very encouraging, with a lot of interest in the ISCE and signing up new members. What’s your best memory of your time at ISE? ISE is proving very positive with contractors in both the commercial audio, voice alarm and professional audio disciplines and during the 2013
event, we would be looking to canvass opinion for the possibilities of including an ISCE Pavilion for 2014.
Gioia Molinari, head of marketing, RCF SpA
What are you doing at ISE in 2013? For ISE 2013 we will be presenting our range of products but the focus will be on the DXT 9000 Voice evacuation system. How has ISE helped your business? ISE has been a great opportunity to show the Installation product range in a much more dedicated place than Frankfurt; where we can find our competitors and find out what the installation market is doing, and find inspiration for something else new to add to our vast Commercial Audio catalogue. It is an important, well structured show that is growing faster and faster – many people, including a lot of Italians, are visiting the show and this is a very good sign!
