BRITISH SINGER-songwriter Ed Sheeran –whose debut single was The A Team – has been on tour since late 2011, relying on a DiGiCo SD11i manned by FOH engineer Chris Marsh. “When I started working with Ed, I had just finished working with Diana Ross, where I was using an SD7. I wanted to continue using it because I love everything about it,” said Marsh. “But it would be overkill to take a desk that big out with a solo artist such as Ed.” Fortunately for Marsh, the SD11i was released about the time he was specifying Sheeran’s tour.

PRO AUDIO’S NEXT big trade exhibition takes place on the 24-27 January, in Anaheim, California, and the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) has implemented some changes to the 2013 show. In an effort to make attending completely hassle-free, registration will move out of the lobby of the Anaheim Convention Center and into surrounding hotels. Organisers are also promising fewer ID checks once inside. Lighting, touring and sound
will take centre stage in The Venue in the Arena, and the new Grand Plaza – currently under construction – will include an outdoor stage for live music throughout the day and be a place for members to network. “NAMM members tell us that
the show is a critically important part of their business strategy,” said Joe Lamond, president and CEO of NAMM. “These changes and new features are designed to help our members have a productive and fun time while they are in Anaheim.”n www.namm.org
