Orbital Sound opens doors in US
ORBITAL SOUND Inc has opened an office in Springfield, NJ – just the other side of the Hudson River from Broadway. It’s the first time that the Orbital brand has done any direct business in the American market and, much like the UK-based company, it will focus primarily on servicing the theatre, live entertainment and corporate event sectors. It’s familiar territory for company president Jim Shearing as Orbital has set up shop about a 30-minute drive away from where he used to work with his brother Geoff at Masque
WORLD Garbage resumes touring with Earthworks
AMERICAN ALTERNATIVE band Garbage found themselves on tour again this year, in support of their fifth studio album, Not Your Kind of People, following a seven-year recording hiatus. For the tour, FOH engineer
Brad Divens opted for the new Earthworks WL40V as reviewed in PSNEurope October.
Explaining his choice, Divens said: “I used the DP25/C and the DP30/C on Don Brewer’s kit during the Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band tour last year.I was so blown away by the microphones that I used them on Stephen Perkins kit while on tour with Jane’s Addiction, also adding a pair of SR25s for overheads.”
When he learned about the WL40V, Divens was anxious to try the wireless capsule on Scottish lead singer Shirley Manson. “I heard that it was being
developed and close to being finished about the time Garbage was starting rehearsals,” he said. “When Shirley said to me that this was the first time she’s used
a microphone that sounded like what she uses in the studio, I knew it was the one.”n

This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference!”n
