Clickety Click on the Clackety Clack
To celebrate the Campaign for Wool and Wool Week 2012 and to heighten awareness of wool, Rowan recently took part in a great initiative thought up by the British Wool Marketing Board – Clickety Click on the Clackety Clack. Knitters, bloggers and journalists took over a train carriage, travelling from London to Edinburgh, and returning the next day.
The centre piece of the journey was a huge Union Jack flag made up of individual knitted textured squares using our British Sheep Breeds range of yarns.
Designed by Marie Wallin, the flag was a massive task in organising, and lots of volunteers were involved in the knitting and the sewing together of the 870 squares. The finished flag measures approximately 2m high x 3m wide!
Lots of our lovely Rowan Design Consultants were involved in the knitting up of the squares, alongside Rowan retailers; Wool n Stuff; M and G Designs; Laughing Hens; Compleat Knit and Spins and Needles. A very special thanks to all who got involved to make the event so special!
