ESTES, ALLEN

TAKE ON NEW POSITIONS WITH USATF

A familiar face at USA Track & Field has taken on a new role as the organization announces Jim Estes as its new Director of Events.

Estes has served as USATF Associate Director of Marketing and Long Distance Running Programs since 2005. In his new role, he will oversee the awarding of USATF championship events and execution of USATF- owned properties. A former

running specialty retailer and road race director prior to his arrival at USATF, Estes oversaw the successful uniting of the 2012 Olympic Team Trials Marathon for men and women, held in Houston in January. He has been a key liaison between USATF, the USOC and local organizers for the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Trials in Eugene, Ore.

“Jim’s relationships with the key organizations and individuals in our sport and his ability to execute events that are successful for athletes, fans and organizers make him a great fit for his new position,” said USATF CEO Max Siegel. “He will play a pivotal role as we re-evaluate our event strategy and look to enhance our existing properties.”

Additionally, Arionne Allen has been appointed USATF Associate Director of Youth Programs and began her duties in the national office in November.

In other staff changes, Adam Schmenk was named Associate Director of Broadcasting and will focus on expanding USATF’s broadcast presence and developing new programming on television and the Internet. Katie Branham and Jeff Mlynski were promoted in their departments. Branham is now Communications Manager while Mlynski is Events Manager.

Along with the addition of Estes, the events department continues to grow with the additions of two new coordinators. Matt Weingardt and Veronica Rodriguez have been appointed to fill those roles.
