TEAM USA

When athletes departed the London Olympic Stadium following competition in the 30th Olympic Games, Team USA left little doubt it remained the World’s #1 Track & Field Team.

Over nine days of competition, Team USA put together a performance to the level the Games hadn’t seen since 1992. Americans brought home a total of 29 medals, which was the most since winning 30 total medals at the Barcelona Games 20 years before. That medal total placed Team USA well ahead of second-place Russia (18) in the overall medal table.

s Ashton Eaton and Trey Hardee’s finish in the decathlon is the first time since 1956 the U.S. has gone 1-2 in the event.

s Galen Rupp’s silver medal in the men’s 10,000m is the first medal in the event by an American since Billy Mills’ gold in 1964.
