FILA WOMEN’S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS: Americans Adeline Gray and Elena Pirozhkova captured gold medals to lead the U.S. team at the FILA Women’s World Championships on Sept. 27-29 in Strathcona County, Canada.


NCAA 2012-13 PREVIEW: Cornell’s Kyle Dake is looking to become just the third wrestler to capture four NCAA titles while Hodge Trophy winner David Taylor is ready to lead the Penn State Nittany Lions to a third straight team title.


OLYMPIC REDSHIRTS PAY DIVIDENDS: NCAA champions Dustin Kilgore and Andrew Howe were among a large group of college wrestlers who made gains in freestyle after taking Olympic redshirts during the 2011-12 school year.


UNIVERSITY WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS: Americans Max Nowry and Adeline Gray earned gold medals at the University World Championships on Oct. 2-6 in Kourtane, Finland. The U.S. won five medals overall in the event.


WE ALL LOST A GOOD FRIEND: Jeff Blatnick, who lost his life on Oct. 24 at age 55, will be remembered as much more than an Olympic champion. He overcame cancer, and he made huge contributions to the sport of wrestling.
