The Footwear Industry Awards seeks to

recognise those in the industry who display innovation and forward thinking, alongside traditional sales and business acumen. The inaugural event in 2012 received critical acclaim, with the British Footwear Association (BFA), Independent Footwear Retailers Association (IFRA), Society of Shoe Fitters and Footwear Today all working successfully together to host a ‘true’ industry award – one which was not exclusive, but inclusive: uniting the industry.

4 • FOOTWEAR TODAY •OCTOBER 2012 Richard Kottler, CEO of the British Footwear

Association, commented that the 2012 event was a great success and will become a really important part of the footwear calendar: "BFA members enjoyed the evening and were pleased to receive several awards and the word will undoubtedly spread for the coming years that any event covering such a wide cross section of the footwear sector deserves their support and encouragement."

As President of Footwear Friends, Richard was

also delighted that the evening raised a great deal of money for the charity and will really make a difference to its ability to help those in the industry who need it. "The generosity of the trade and the Footwear Organisers is much appreciated and welcomed,” he said. IFRA's Arthur Spencer-Bolland, added: "We in

IFRA were delighted to be part of this year's Footwear Awards - the first to be truly the result of a united industry. Next year we will use our endeavours to ensure that they go from strength to strength by encouraging our members to nominate and subsequently vote for the best in our sector."

Laura West of the Society of Shoe Fitters said:

"The Society of Shoe Fitters were delighted to be involved in the 2012 Footwear Awards and look forward to February 2013. It's a wonderful

opportunity for the finest people in the industry to unite and acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the people and brands nominated. Coinciding the event with Moda brings everyone closer together, making it an unmissable, affordable and enjoyable evening."

Awards Director, Paul Ryder agrees:

"After the great success of the 2012 FIA awards and with the backing of the whole industry we are looking forward to an even bigger and better event for 2013."
