CASTING INNOVATIONS
for permanent mold casting. It ana- lyzes the processes of the diecasting machine continuously and adapts the pouring sequence for the respec- tive production cycle. The digital unit controls, regulates, operates and displays the entire pouring system.
It is equipped with an interface for remote diagnosis and PC connection for outputting production data. Te VPC control allows program-
ming on a PC with a touchscreen panel. Processing data are stored in a large mold-specific database.
The Westomat furnace’s TopStop
position is a special variant in the pouring process. Metal is stored just below the top of the dosing pipe at all times for perpetual pour-
ing readiness. For more information, visit

AMC Improves Production Efficiency With Laempe Core Machine To increase its core production ca-
pacity, Articulos Metalicos de Cadereyta, S.A. de C.V. (AMC) in Cadereyta Jimenez N.L., Mexico, ordered its first LL10 CoreCenter from Laempe+Reich, Trussville, Ala., in 2004. After years of successful conversion from shell to cold- box, the company has installed a second Laempe CoreCenter to further increase production capacity. Te CoreCenter includes a Laempe
LL10 CoreShooter, Laempe LG Gas- Generator and Laempe LVM2 Sand Mixer, all operated by a central control system. Te LL10 is an efficient and flexible machine allowing use of both vertical and/or horizontal tooling with up to six parts for core production up to 220 lbs. (100 kg). Te compact LL-series automatic
core shooters, for hot or cold core hardening, include an integrated gas unit, control unit, hydraulics and safety cabin. It shoots a volume of 5 to 20 liters and offers a maximum shooting area of 15 x 15 in. (380 x 380 mm) with a 9-in. (230-mm) diameter stan- dard shooting area. It cycles (without gassing, injection and venting) in 16 seconds. Tool dimensions are: • Height:9-18.9 in. (230-480 mm). • Vertical width: 5.9-13.8 in. (150- 350 mm).
• Horizontal width: 5.9-27.4 in. (150-695 mm).
• Depth: 7.9-27.6 in. (200-700 mm). Laempe production data collection
(PDC) technology collects and ana- lyzes data for core production-specific process parameters. In addition to con- sumption figures, cycle times, quantities and reject rates, it collects availability data and information on the causes of downtime. An integrated evaluation module enables statistical analysis in the form of graphics or tables. AMC produces gray iron castings up to 45 lbs. via green sand molding
and has a capacity of more than 250 tons per month. Laempe provided on-site techni-
cal service during equipment deliv- ery, installation, startup and pre- production testing. This time was used for hands-on training of the operator and maintenance personnel,
in addition to classroom training to cover the operator and maintenance manuals, as well as troubleshoot- ing procedures. These steps helped ensure smooth installation and a trouble-free transition to core pro-
duction on the new machine. For more information, visit
