and present. Today, the city is home to Capistrano Unifi ed School District’s headquarters, seven public schools, six private campuses, two Montessori schools and an adult campus. In addition to the outstanding reputation of the private schools, the Capistrano Unifi ed School District is continually honored as one of the best large districts in the state. The district in 2012 graduated 3,800 seniors at seven high schools. The class of 2012 featured 11 National Merit Scholars and 12 National Merit Semifi nalists.
